چکیده

INTRODUCTION Primordial germ cells have an extra-gonadic origin in the chick embryo. They may be found in the primitive streak or head-process stage, in an area known as the germinal crescent, located in the endoderm anterior and antero-lateral to the primitive streak at the junction of the area opaca and area pellucida (Swift, 1914; Willier, 1937; Reynaud, 1967; Clawson & Domm, 1969). Primordial germ cells are distinctively large and thus are easy to identify (Goldsmith, 1928). Primordial germ cells are migratory. They begin to separate from the endoderm at the definitive primitive streak stage (Clawson & Domm, 1967), are soon found in the lumina of blood vessels (Abdel-Malek, 1950), and are in the tissues of the embryo proper by the cranial flexure stage (Meyer, 1961, 1964). Most primordial germ cells become situated in the gonad primordium, some appear to degenerate, and others are thought to form extra-gonadic islands of germ tissue (Clawson & Domm, 1968). The fate of these migratory giant cells has been in dispute because extirpation of the germinal crescent has generally resulted in the death of the host embryo. The fate of primordial germ cells would be revealed if they could be selectively removed with negligible or no damage to embryonic tissues. The purpose of the present study is to report preliminary results that suggest laser irradiation of the

Picosecond UV laser induced morphological, biochemical and biological changes in Bombyx mori

Background: In the light of various applications of UV laser in biological system, we have investigated the effect of picosecond UV laser radiation on silkworm Bombyx mori. Materials and Methods: The eggs of NB4D2 of different stages were exposed to pico second pulse laser at 355 nm from Nd:YAG laser for different durations. Results: Due to irradiation alterations in crescent larval body...

Effect of retinoic acid on neural tube development in chick embryo

retinoic acid is one of the derivatives of vitamin A.it is used for treatment of dermatitis, but it has different teratogenic effects on developing organs depending on the different stages of embryonic life.neural  tube is made of two different parts:primary neural tube originated from embryo germinal layer and and secondary neural tube originated from tail bud.the persent study was designed to ...

Temporal and spatial aspects of the gradual migration of primordial germ cells from the epiblast into the germinal crescent in the avian embryo.

The migration of the PGCs from a stage XIII epiblast into the germinal crescent of a stage 10 chick blastoderm was experimentally investigated. Considerable numbers of PGCs start to come down from the epiblastic layer at stage XII-XIII and continue to do so in relatively smaller numbers until stage 6. The earliest PGCs land on the primary hypoblast and probably are carried by it into the GC. Th...
